• Residual elements:

Chromium (Cr) ≤ 0.25% (≤ 0.10% during lead bath quenching of steel wire), nickel (Ni) ≤ 0.20% (≤ 0.12% during lead bath quenching), copper (Cu) ≤ 0.30% (≤ 0.20% during lead bath quenching).

• Restriction condition:

The total amount of Cr+Ni+Cu in the production of lead bath quenched steel wire is ≤ 0.40%.

Hardness:

The hardness in annealed state is ≤ 187HB (indentation diameter ≥ 4.40mm), and the hardness after quenching is ≥ 62HRC.

• Heat treatment specifications:

The quenching temperature is 780-820 ℃ (water-cooled), the starting temperature for hot working is 1000-1050 ℃, and the ending temperature is 850 ℃.

• Characteristics:

High hardness, wear resistance, but low thermal hardening, poor hardenability, easy deformation, low plasticity and strength.


Main purpose

• Applicable scenarios:

Manufacturing low complexity tools such as simple shaped molds, punches, metal cutting tools, drilling tools, woodworking milling cutters, axes and chisels, and hand saws.

• Restricted applications:

Not suitable for high temperature environments or precision components that require high hardenability and deformation resistance, as they are prone to deformation and have limited strength after heat treatment.
