Heat Resistant Alloys
UNS N08800, 1.4876, comparable to Incoloy 800 Alloy
UNS N08800 is a high-strength nickel-iron-chromium alloy with excellent resistance to oxidation and carburization. It offers superior corrosion resistance in a wide range of aqueous environments. Our stock includes multiple forms, other forms can be produced upon request.

Workability
N08800 is the ideal steel for both hot and cold working. The optimal temperature range for hot working is from 1000 to 1230℃, while light work can be done at temperatures as low as 850℃. To prevent cracks, we advise avoiding temperatures of 650-800℃. Cold workability is close to that of austenitic stainless steels, with slightly lowered work hardening.
Weldability
N08800 is an austenitic stainless steel that can be welded with TIG, MIG, and shield metal arc welding. To achieve the strongest weld, AWS ERNiCr-3/AWS ENiCrFe-2 welding rods are recommended.
Heat Treatment
N08800 is an austenitic stainless steel with similar structure and heat treatment requirements to those of austenitic stainless steels. Its properties make it ideal for those seeking greater strength and reliability in their steel applications.
Properties at High Temperatures
N08800 stainless steel is a superior heat-resistant alloy, with high nickel and chromium content providing excellent oxidation and carburization resistance up to 600°C. It is virtually equal to N06600 in heat resistance, and is widely used in applications that require high temperatures without becoming brittle. 800H/800T versions offer superior creep properties for temperatures beyond 600°C.
Corrosion Resistance
N08800 stainless steel provides exceptional corrosion resistance in oxidizing environments, offering up to five times greater resistance to stress corrosion cracking than standard austenitic steel. This makes it ideal for use in applications such as nitric acid processing and molten salt handling.
Applications
N08800 is a versatile metal alloy that can withstand extreme heat, making it ideal for use in sheathed heaters, thermocouple protection tubes, and heat treatment furnaces. It provides protection and durability thanks to its high melting point of 1414°C.
